A theatre-gig for the whole family inspired by Gruff Rhys' seminal album, Candylion.
In the psychedelic Manga-inspired landscape of Pixel Valley, Candylion (half lion half candy floss) is frustrated by her role as the youngest member of the community. Her insatiable appetite for life gradually transforms into ravenous greed and a desire for power, and she destroys the Pixel Valley community everything that made Pixel Valley a joyful place to live.
At once a political satire, a fable and a happening, Candylion bridged genres, art forms and generations, with matinee shows full of families and late-night outings for an adult audience.
Dancing, singing, conga-ing and giving gifts are just some of the ways the audience participated in a night which is an anarchic and engaging synthesis of gig and theatre event.
